The Dwelling Beneath Sacred Waters
By Jared Isaac Aragón. Concert work for organ solo.
The flow and nature of water is an inspiration to me, and this is my second organ work inspired by water. The Zuni People of New Mexico, like all Pueblo people, have a pantheon of spirits called katsinam, or koko in the Zuni language. According to the Zuni belief system, the koko live in a village at the bottom of the lake Koluwala:wa in Arizona and they leave the lake annually to spend time in the Zuni villages where they bless the people with gifts of crops, rain, and dances.
